DYNAMICS OF AN INCOMPRESSIBLE VISCOUS FLUID WITH A FREE SURFACE CONTAINED IN A CYLINDRICAL TANK,

Abstract

The purpose of the analysis was to determine the normal modes of an incompressible viscous fluid with a free surface contained in a cylindrical tank, and the damping associated with these modes. The tank is assumed to be infinitely rigid and the motion is assumed to be sufficiently small that nonlinear terms in the Navier-Stokes equations can be neglected. The effects of surface tension are considered. (Author)
