BOUNDARIES OF JETS FROM HIGHLY UNDEREXPANDED NOZZLES WITH EXTERNAL FLOW,

Abstract

An approximation method for the calculation of the boundaries of supersonic jets is given in which the flow geometry, as well as the initial conditions, may be varied. When the nozzle exit to ambient pressure ratio is relatively small and the external stream and jet have the same ratio of specific heats, this method compares favorably in accuracy with the more difficult method of characteristics.
