ELECTROMAGNETIC SCATTERING BY GYROTROPIC CYLINDERS WITH AXIAL MAGNETIC FIELDS.

Abstract

The modified geometrical optics method is applied to find the radar cross section of an infinite, gyrotropic, circular cylinder with an axial magnetic field. The results compare favorably with those obtained using the boundary value solution. The modified geometrical optics method offers the advantage that it may be applied to a general cylindrical cross section without further development. It may also be applied to other orientations of magnetic field but the computations are much more tedious. (Author)
