RECOMMENDED TECHNIQUES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING LOG AND LUMBER CHARACTERISTICS.

Abstract

A study was made of photographic techniques that are useful in illustrating defects and indications of defects in logs and lumber. The techniques described were found to be the best of all those studied, and include those for use under well-controlled photographic conditions in a laboratory and those for use in a sawmill yard where variable and less advantageous conditions prevail. This study will be of particular interest to persons who are developing or preparing log-grade training aids. (Author)
