PRESSURE DERIVATIVE OF THE ELASTIC CONSTANTS OF NAC2 AND KC2 AT 295K AND 195K.

Abstract

The pressure derivatives of the adiabatic elastic constants of NaC1 and KC1 were measured at 295K and 195K using the ultrasonic pulse-echo technique. The results were used to calculate mode gammas. These were found to have no strong temperature dependence. The mode gammas were suitably averaged to obtain values of Gruneisen's parameter which agree satisfactorially with those found from the Mie-Gruneisen equation of state.
