RESEARCH INVESTIGATION DIRECTED TOWARD EXTENDING THE USEFUL RANGE OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM.

Abstract

Results are presented on the program of the development of magnetrons at very high frequencies and at considerable power levels. Of particular interest is the work on harmonic generation in magnetrons. Work is reported on the solid state maser. New measurements of relaxation processes in various solids are discussed with a view to the application of solids to masers. Spectroscopic investigations of several systems by maser methods, microwave absorpption techniques, and molecular beam methods are described. Continuing work on the chemical and physical properties of the alkali halide vapors is discussed.
