INFRARED SPECTRA OOF COMPLEX COMPOUNDS OF THORIUM, ZIRCONIUM, AND URANYL WITH 8-HYDROXY QUINOLINE AND TRIBUTYL PHOSPHATE,

Abstract

IR absorption spectra of 8-oxinates of thorium, zirconium, and uranyl were measured in the hard phase and a conclusion was drawn as to the presence of an effect of conjugation in the e complexinixelexing. The supposition is expressed that an excess molecule of 8-oxine is joined to the complex resulting in the formation of a coordination bond between an atom of metal and an atom of ligand. IR spectra of mixtures of TBF with chlorides of thorium and zirconium were measured and the mechanism of the interation of the components was demonstrated. (Author)
