MAXIMIZATIION OF THE RELIABILITTY OF A COMPLEX SYSTEM BY THE USE OF ITEMS IN SEQUENCE,

Abstract

The basic theory of the use of items in sequence in a complex system is developed. Particuular examples are given for the exponential distribution, the terminated exponential, the normal distribution, the exponential with normal distribution wearout, and the Weibull distribution. It is noted that the problem, statistically is the same as the distribution of the sum of independent items. The treatment of degradation due to disuse of an item is included. (Author)
