A NEW METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE ALTITUDE OF SCINTILLATION-PRODUCING IRREGULARITIES.

Abstract

A new method of measuring the height of the irregularities responsible for the scintillation phenomenon is proposed. The amplitude of a satellite signal is recorded by a fixed receiver on the ground and by a receiver located on an aircraft moving in the same direction as the diffraction pattern. Comparison of the scintillation rates at the two receivers gives the height of the diffracting layer. (Author)
