BORE EVACUATOR VALVE TEST, CANNON 155MM HOWITZER, M126

Abstract

The limited life of Bore Evacuator Valve Assembly 8769384 during firing tests led to the authorization of a test program to find a valve assembly with a longer life. The cost of testing in the gun (155mm How. M126) made it economical to build a test apparatus which simulumimulated the weapon. The test program was the basis for the incorporation of valve assembly 8769531 into the weapon system. A comparison of the strain level of the modification is presented. The life of the then current production valve assembly and the new production valve assembly under different charges is also given.
