Abstract
The application of a raster servo system to the areas of contour detection and tracing is considered from both a theoretical and experimental point of view. The basic electronic systems required for such an instrumentation are considered in detail, and the limitations imposed by the existing instrumentation are discussed quantitatively. Experimental data, obtained with the aid of the prototype model constructed for this study, indicates that a raster servo contour tracing system provides a rapid and accurate means of extracting steremodel contour information.
