EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF CURRENT LIMITING AND OSCILLATION IN CDS.
Abstract
The current limiting and oscillations which occur when low resistivity CdS is subjected to high level voltage pulses are experimentally investigated, and several theories proposed to explain the phenomena. The manufacture of the test samples and the design of a pulse generator utilizing a lumped element delay line and a silicon controlled rectifier are described. From the experimental results, a dependence of the frequency and amplitude of the oscillations on the applied voltage is shown. The theory which best explains the phenomena is found to be the transfer of electronic momentum. (Author)
