RADIANT PROPERTIES OF HIGH TEMPERATURE EQUILIBRIUM AIR (3800A TO 6500A),

Abstract

The linear spectral absorption coefficient and related radiative quantities have been computed for high-temperature equilibrium air for optical wavelengths within the range of 3800A to 6500A. The computations were performed over temperatures from 1000K to 24,000K, and for density ratios from 1 to 0.000001. Quantities computed include; the linear absorption coefficients for the radiating constituents of high-temperature air, the total absorption coefficient, the spectral emissivity and radiance of a 1 centimeter layer of air, and mean emissivities, radiances, and absorption coefficients for the optical band. A description of the theoretical considerations which served as the basis of calculations is given. The results of the computations are presented in the form of graphs and tables covering the specified wavelength, temperature and density regions. (Author)
