MOLTEN CARBONATE ELECTROLYTES: ELECTRICAL CONDUCTANCE, DENSITY, AND SURFACE TENSION OF BINARY AND TERNARY MIXTURES.

Abstract

The electrical conductance, density, and surface tension of the alkali metal carbonate systems Li2CO3 (53.3 mole%) Na2CO3 (46.7 mole%); Li2CO3 (42.7 mole$) %) - K2CO3 (57.3 mole%); Na2CO3 (58 mole%) - K2CO3 (42 mole%); and Li2CO3 (43.5 mole%) - Na2CO3 (31.5 mole%) - K2CO3 (25.0 mole%) are reported for the temperature range 500C to 900C. Density and surface tension properties are approximately additive for these systems. The experimental conductances of the binary systems are found to obey Markov's empirical equation.
