QUALITY CONTROL AND RELIABILITY FOR TOTAL WEAPON SYSTEM,

Abstract

This paper describes a major facet of a three-year-old RAND Logistics Systems Laboratory study known as LP-II. It is intended for those involved in the quality control of the reliability and overall performance of a total weapon system, whether they are helping develop the quality control procedures for the system's bits and pieces, or testing large components of the entire weapon system. While not originally intended to be of aid in this area, the study has evoked interest recently from those who are faced with the problem of evaluating each of the Air Force ballistic missile weapon systems -- Atlas, Titan, and Minuteman.
