HIGH TEMPERATURE ARC STUDIES,

Abstract

An arc device recently developed at Space Technology Laboratories is described. Details are presented of the arc unit and associated equipment including the power supply, coolant and gas supply system, test section, and instrumentation. Characteristics and modes of operation of the unit are discussed. The unit was developed primarily for operation of a high enthalpy materials test facility. Other specific applications are discussed.
