BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF LASERS: SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS AND A COMMENT ON THE CONCEPT OF OCULAR DAMAGE.
Abstract
The biological effects of laser radiation are discussed with particular emphasis on ocular damage. Since lasers are being employed with increasing frequency, and since a safety hazard exists, specific safety recommendations are made. A behavioral assessment of visual impairment in addition to histological or ophthalmological measurement of damage is discussed and the advantages of such assessment described. (Author)
