BIO-INSTRUMENTATION FOR CONTROL OF PRESSURE CHAMBERS,

Abstract

The bio-instrumentation for control of pressure chambers is designed to monitor the environment within altitudesimulation chambers and alert the chamber operator to the existence of conditions that are hazardous to the chamber occupants. Specifically, the instrumentation continu ously monitors and displays the following: percent oxygen, percent carbon dioxide, percent carbon monoxide, temperature, humidity, pressure/altitude, and duration of exposure. This report provides a complete description of the bio-instrumentation, in terms of the system as a whole and of the individual components and subsystems. The results of the physiological investigations are included. The report contains detailed procedures for installing, calibrating, and operating the instrumentation, and for performing preventive maintenance.
