PROGRESS IN RESOURCES PLANNING THROUGH PERT.

Abstract

Techniques and results developed during one year of implementation of PERT as a planning tool in Engineering R and D and Manufacturing are described. PERT has been utilized for technical risk evaluation, alternative simulation and capacity analysis. Extensions of the logic into the fields of manpower, facility, and cost forecasting lead to a comprehensive business planning tool. Conclusions: Integration among engineering, production and quality control has been simplified. The full utilization of the simple logic of PERT gives management a practical and powerful tool for the planning, monitoring and prediction of complex business operations. (Author)
