A STUDY OF MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS FOR TECHNICAL INFORMATION SUPPORT PERSONNEL.

Abstract

A pilot study was undertaken by the AUERBACH Corporation for the Department of Labor to determine the future manpower requirements for Technical Information Support Personnel (TISP) to scientists and engineers in the Communications Equipment industry (SIC 366). The study uses the case study technique in eight selected companies to define the functions and skill requirements of TISP, to estimate the present number of TISP in SIC 366, and to forecast the number of TISP required through 1970. The study also tests the methodology used and recommends improved methods for further study in other industries. (Author)
