THE MEASUREMENT OF FLUCTUATIONS IN THE APPARENT POSITION OF RADIO STARS,

Abstract

A program is proposed for measuring angular fluctuations in the apparent position of radio stars as a possible method for determining some of the properties of the agency causing the fluctuations. It is suggested that the methodology be based on the use of the radio interferometer and that the first region examined be at a frequency of about 1000 Mc/sec. A discussion is included on the Ryle-type interferometer and its possible modifications, and on some of the factors affecting the design of radio interferometers.
