ATCRBS SLS OMNI DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA PROTOTYPE MODELS I AND II.

Abstract

This report covers the design and production of two prototype omni-directional antennas for implementation of the 3-pulse sidelobe suppression technique with the ATCRBS ground station. The two types of antennas differ in that the mounting flange of Prototype Model I is located at the base for mounting atop a metallic mast, and the mounting flange for Prototype Model II is located at the top for suspension installation within a spherical radome, housing the ground radar equipment. Also, the phasing device in the feed line differs in the two types of antennas to provide the desired beam tilt. The antennas are series fed colinear dipole arrays properly spaced and phased to produce a vertical pattern very nearly coincident with that of the beacon directional antenna. (Author)
