DEVELOPMENT OF VERY HIGH STRENGTH BERYLLIUM WIRE.

Abstract

The object of the project is to produce fine beryllium wire at sizes in the range of 0.010-inch to 0.004-inch diameter at a target ultimate tensile strength of 300,000 psi. This work includes a study to determine the feasibility of using several nonstandard beryllium materials known to have higher strength in other wrought forms as starting materials to produce fine wire with the current warm drawing process.
