CURRENTS, CHARGES, AND NEAR FIELDS OF CYLINDRICAL RECEIVING ANTENNAS,

Abstract

The cylindrical center-loaded receiving antenna in an incident linearly polarized plane-wave field was analyzed. Approximate expressions were obtained for the distributions of current and charge that involve three trigonometric terms with suitably defined coefficients. These are much more accurate than the usual zero-order currents and charges, and much simpler than higher-order iterated solutions. The complex effective length was determined. Formulas were also obtained for the reradiated or scattered field very near the antenna in the important special case when the antenna lies in the plane of the incident wave front. These are useful in certain applications that involve radio frequency hazards. (Author)
