THE STRUCTURE OF VARIOUS FERROELECTRICS: THE QUESTION OF FERRIELECTRICITY,

Abstract

The phase relations in the vicinity of sodium niobate and lead zirconate are reviewed, with special attention to the changes of these relations as a result of field, temperature, and pressure. It is seen that the intimate association of ferroelectricity and antiferroelectricity in these two materials gives rise to a large number of complicated phase relations. The phases present in the KH2PO4 structure type are also summarized, with particular attention to solid solutions. (Author)
