A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SOME ALTERNATIVES TO THE SHEWHART CONTROL-CHART TECHNIQUE.
Abstract
This report summarizes research dealing with alternatives to the Shewhart control chart and other technical problems arising from the original studies. Work reported in eleven technical reports issued previously is summarized. The problems studied since the issuance of TR-11 are the following: 1) Estimating a multi-dimensional parameter; 2) Finding maximally correlated linear combinations between a set of measurements made on one individual and a set of similar measurements made on a closely related individual; 3) Finding conditions for the existence and explicit construction of estimators with minimum risk at a given point among all unbiased estimators of a parametric function. A related problem in Bayes estimation is also considered.
