THE USE OF REAL TIME COMPUTERS FOR INVENTORY CONTROL.

Abstract

A real-time system provides immediate access to information stored in the computer by operating personnel throughout the organization. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze existing and proposed real-time inventory control systems in order to determine the advantages and disadvantages of this new management technique. Although real-time inventory control systems are still in tehe developmental stage, an examination of the implications of these real-time systems should provide an insight into the possibilities for wide spread use of real-time systems for inventory control and for other business applications.
