THE DECISION SCIENCES LABORATORY PROGRAM OF TECHNIQUES AND FACILITIES FOR AUTOMATING RESEARCH

Abstract

A report is given on the application of techniques and the use of computer facilities in automating research in the Decision Sciences Laboratory. Applications are divided into six categories; (1) real-time control of experimental tasks performed by human subjects, (2) statistical analysis of experimental data, (3) stimulation and sensitivity analyses, (4) studies in information retrieval, (5) techniques for improving the man/computer interface, and (6) computer-based personnel selection, classification, training, and proficiency testing. Examples are given of each application. There is also included detailed facility lay-out and description of equipment characteristics.
