A GRAPHIC TECHNIQUE APPLIED TO THE ANALYSIS OF THE TORQUE FLUCTUATIONS OF A SPEED INCREASING GEAR TRAIN,

Abstract

Assuming a constant value for the coefficient of friction between mating teeth, the effects of tooth geometry on the torque fluctuations of a spur gear mesh are analyzed. A graphic method is presented and used to determine the composite efficiency curves of three, five mesh gear trains. Based on the information generated, several conclusions are reached regarding the application of gears of both clock and involute tooth forms to speed increasing drives. (Author)
