THE EVALUATION OF THE OPTICAL CONSTANTS OF A THIN INHOMOGENEOUS LAYER.

Abstract

The true optical constants of a thin inhomogeneous layer coated on a base may be evaluated from a knowledge of the magnitude and phase of the complex reflection coefficient and their derivatives with respect to film thickness. These measured quantities furnish sufficient information to determine the film constants without requiring knowledge of the substrate properties. (Author)
