KINETICS OF CONDENSATION FROM THE VAPOR PHASE.

Abstract

Condensation was investigated in a shock tube using the rarefaction wave to cool the vapor-inert gas mixture. Reproducible pressure-time data were obtained with H2O and CH3OH using Ar and N2 as the inert gas. Slow condensation was measured at mild conditions and condensation pseudo shocks were observed at drastic conditions. Data with CCl4 were of limited usefulness because of the low heat of condensation. (Author)
