ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF MATRIX ISOLATED NITROGEN TRIFLUORIDE FROM 18 - 50 GC,

Abstract

An experimental study has been made of the absorption spectrum of NF3 molecules trapped in an argon matrix in the microwave region from 18--50 Gc. A discussion of the properties of such crystals is given, followed by a description of the experimental apparatus and technique. No microwave absorption in excess of 1 db was observed, 1 db being the smallest signal which could be detected by the microwave spectrometer used in this experiment. A discussion of this result is given together with recommendations for future experiments. (Author)
