PHOTO IONIZATION RATE OF CESIUM AT LOW PRESSURES,

Abstract

A first order rate equation is derived. The computed value indicates that at high altitudes the generation of electrons due to photo-ionization can equal or exceed the depopulation due to slow 3 body recombination. This can lead to a stable electron density which will disappear due to diffusion only.
