ULTRA HIGH POWER TRANSMISSION LINE TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

The purpose of this investigation is to develop systematic procedures for selecting optimum waveguide configurations and designing waveguide components that will operate at high levels of peak and average power in the frequency range 1-10 gigacycles. In particular, the feasibility will be investigated of designing compact components such as bends, couplers, power dividers, tapers, and mode absorbers in waveguides having cross section dimensions in the range 1.5 to 2.5 free space wavelengths. In the present report the design and fabrication of tapers, bends, and a 20 db directional coupler for the experimental program is described. A description of a resonant cavity method for high power testing is also presented. (Author)
