IPC, A CODED CHARACTER SET FOR INFORMATION PROCESSING,

Abstract

Information Processing Code (IPC) in an information manipulation-oriented character set and associated binary code representation. The code is designed to simplify internal information processing operations within the computer and the character set to maximize the transfer of information between the system user and the system. IPC in an 8-bit code set constructed so that 4, 5, 6 and 7-bit subsets can easily be derived. The set is organized so that simple binary comparisons can distinguish between the numeric, alphabetic, special symbol and control character codes. Unassigned codes are reserved for local interpretation. (Author)
