THE ARTIFICIAL GROWTH OF SINGLE CRYSTALS OF CALCITE (CACO3) WITH A HIGH DEGREE OF IMPURITY CONTROL.

Abstract

Doping of calcite by DC field sweeping resulted in low but significant levels of cationic contaminants ranging from 10-80 ppm. Hydrothermal growth of calcite was effected in a 12% aqueous ammonium nitrate system below 100C. Spontaneously nucleated growth pre dominates and small doped crystals of calcite can be prepared.
