TROPICAL PROPAGATION RESEARCH

Abstract

The basic concepts of the theoretical and experimental studies of radio propagation in jungle environments are reviewed. Results of a survey of literature pertaining to radio propagation in tropical areas and propagation over rough terrain are included. The details of a site survey are presented and describe, to a certain extent, the environment in which the proposed tests will be conducted. A discussion of the tests planned includes a description of the measurements, test equipment and measurement techniques. The theoretical studies required to fulfill the requirements of the contract are summarized and presented along with the results accomplished to date. A theoretical analysis of the quadrant dipole antenna is included in the appendix.
