ON THE STEADY STATE OF IONIZATION IN WEAKLY IONIZED PLASMA IN THE NON-EQUILIBRIUM STATE,

Abstract

When the non-equilibrium system is maintained by the use of something external, it is the stationary state of ionization arising from the equilibrium of the ionization and recombination rates. In this situation, the relationship of degree of ionization suitable to Saha's formula can be followed. In effect, this is the problem of generalizing the Saha formula. The generalized Saha formula was derived. As an example of its use, a very simplified model was treated. The result shows that when the temperature of the electron is greater than that of the neutral atom (the gas temperature), the ionization density increases.
