RESEARCH ON ELECTROMAGNETIC PLASMA ACCELERATION

Abstract

A final report on work covering four years of investigation is presented. Included in this report are the following: (a) An experimental investigation of the acceleration of plasma toroids in a pulsed traveling wave device. (b) A theoretical investigation of the behavior of plasma in axially symmetric magnetic fields. (c) A detailed description of a CW polyphase driven traveling wave accelerator. In addition there are a number of appendices describing various ancillary techniques and apparatuses including polyphase monitoring and control systems, an analog computer for axially symmetric magnetic fields, and the CW power sources.
