A MODEL AND CYBERNETIC SYSTEM FOR RESEARCH ON THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS.

Abstract

The paper first presents the basis elements of a learning theory that distinguishes among three interrelated processes, and then describes the way in which these processes determine the requirements of an adaptive teacher. The learning-teaching process is considered as a cybernetic man-machine system and one which is designed to take into account individual differences in learners. The SOCRATES design and the characteristics of idiomorphic programing are indicated. This part of the paper elucidates the conception and illustrates, in operational terms, the way in which different characteristics of learners are taken into account in idiomorphic programing which is implemented as a two-stage decision process. Some research is cited to indicate the basis for including certain features in the system design and other research. (Author)
