DYNAMIC MEASUREMENTS OF PROTECTIVE MASKS
Abstract
A system was developed that is capable of detecting and measuring compartment pressure and respiratory flow conditions existing within a protective mask worn by subjects under dynamic operating conditions. The data are converted to an electrical signal and conveyed by means of FM transmission to the ground receiving station for immediate readout or infinite storage in a memory device such as a tape recorder. The complete gas mask system has an electronics module; a back pack with FM transmitter and batteries for supply of power; a ground receiving station with consoles, Brush Oscillograph recorder, and tape recorder; and a transducer, pneumotachometer, and battery charging cable.
