STRESS ANALYSIS OF A CYLINDER PRESSURELOADED OVER EQUAL AND OPPOSITE ARCS.

Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine the theoretical stresses in, and deflections of, the propellant grain, when it is subjected to an arbitrary, symmetric edge pressure on the outer boundary. The results are presented graphically. A Fourier-series treatment of the theoretical problem yields mathematical results which may be used as a guide for calculating the actual stresses that may be imposed on the boundary of the XM-57 Minuteman Stage III motor through staticloading.
