MULTIPLET ENERGIES OF D-N CONFIGURATIONS IN OCTAHEDRAL FIELDS.

Abstract

The technique of Racah and Shadmi for accurate calculation of the multiplet energies of d-n free atom systems is used to give a partial revision of Tanabe and Sugano's tables for octahedral field multiplets. The tables also indicate the effects of covalency as shown by a diminution of the gamma-3 orbitals. (Author)
