BUCKLING OF ORTHOTROPIC CYLINDERS UNDER AXIAL COMPRESSION.

Abstract

Previously derived equations for the buckling of axially loaded orthotropic cylinders are reviewed and solutions to the equations are given in graphical form. An analysis of the postbuckling behavior is also performed, and the applicability of the classical theory is discussed in the light of the results of that analysis. Finally, a practical method of analysis is suggested, and the buckling load determined by this method is compared with available test data. (Author)
