INFRA-RED DISPERSION STUDIES. PART 2. METHYL IODIDE.

Abstract

The dispersion curve for liquid methyl iodide was measured between 2 and 20 microns using an interferometric method. The refractive index data were analyzed to yield the infra-red intensities of all fundamental vibration bands. The results were used in conjunction with a reasonable (quadratic) potential function to obtain dipole moment derivatives with respect to bond lengths and 'bond moments'. The parameters obtained are compared with those obtained for methyl iodide in the vapour state. (Author)
