FRACTURE ARREST IN PRESSURE VESSELS.

Abstract

A technique is developed for the experimental evaluation of the elastic energy release rate in a pressure vessel and is applied to plastic models. The feasibility of effecting crack arrest is demonstrated and the prediction of the arrested crack length is schematically indicated. (Author)
