FACTORS IN SELECTION OF METALS FOR LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURES.

Abstract

The factors considered in this report for reducing structural weight are: (1) selection of less-dense materials; (2) selection of materials in preferred product forms; (3) use of composite materials or structural elements which provide desirable combinations of properties otherwise unobtainable.
