MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF STEELS CONTAINING LOW SULFUR AND PHOSPHORUS CONTENT,

Abstract

This investigation illustrate the necessity of minimizing phosphorus and sulfur contents in cast low alloy steels to maximize the ductility and toughness at low, medium, and high strength levels. A further significant improvement in the ductility and toughness of these cast steels may result through the use of vacuum melting and casting techniques. (Author)
