INVESTIGATIONS OF THE MECHANISMS OF DECOMPOSITION, COMBUSTION, AND DETONATION OF SOLIDS

Abstract

The overall stoichiometry of the NH3-N2O counterflow diffusion flame was determined from mass spectrographic analyses of the reaction products. The exothermicity of this flame reaction is governed by the reaction NH3 + N2O yields 1/2H2 + 3/2N2 + H2O. The volumetric reaction rate and heat release rate for this reaction are 1.95g/c.c.-sec and 7600 cal/c.c.-sec, respectively. (Author)
