PROCESSING MOORED CURRENT METER DATA.

Abstract

A description is given of the procedures followed at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in obtaining digital output information from observations collected on 16 mm. film with Richardson-type current meters. Included are descriptions of the film processing, print examination, film reading, and methods for digital storage of the results on magnetic tape. Some elementary operations for analysis of long time series of current meter observations are described and discussed. These methods are independent of the type of instrument used to collect the measurements. (Author)
